In the Northern Kentucky area the Farmhouse look is the big decor thing and leather seems to be a big part of the design. So, you made the investment into the leather living room set of your dreams and now your living area is everything you have dreamed of! (Feeling a bit like Joanna Gaines, are ya?) Now let’s keep that expensive leather looking great for years to come.

*Note: We ALWAYS suggest testing any cleaning solutions, home made or store bought, on a small inconspicuous area before using on the entire surface.

First things first, always start by reading your manufactures cleaning suggestions for your product. Be sure to read what may negate any warranties that would apply to your furniture and be sure to follow the recommendations.

There are a wide variety of leather cleaners on the market. We highly recommned that you read the labels carefully to ensure that they are a proper product for your furniture. We suggest avoiding products that use ammonia or bleach as these could be damaging to the leather.

Day to Day Cleaning

Keep it simple for your daily cleaning of your leather furnishings. Go for the soft damp cloth to wipe the surfaces and remove particles from the grooves You may also wish to vacuum those tough to reach areas between the cushions. No harsh chemicals needed for this type cleaning.

More Intense Cleaning

Looking to do a little more intense cleaning? Try a product that has been recommended by the manufacturer. Looking for something more on the chemical free side? Mix equal parts of white vinegar and water. Dip a soft microfiber cloth into the mixture and wring out excess. (test an inconspicuous area for colorfastness) Wipe down desired areas.

Conditioning

Caring for fine leather requires conditioning about every 6 months. Again, plenty of products are available on the market which you can use for this. We recommend reading your owners manual for manufacturers guidelines and recommendations. If you are looking for a more natural cleaning product, try mixing 1 part white vinegar and 2 parts linseed (flax seed) oil. (test for colorfastness before use). Using a soft, clean cloth, apply this mixture on the sofa in broad, circular motions. Leave on overnight. The next day, buff the sofa with a clean rag to restore its shine.
